I will always love you".
En febrero Houston publicó un doble álbum recopilatorio, titulado "The últimate collection", en el que recupera números uno de ventas como "I will always love you", "How will I know", "So emotional" o "I'm your baby tonight" y donde hay dúos con Mariah Carey ("When you believe") y George Michael ("If I told you that").

Whitney Houston 'Fantastic' at London Show

BOBBY BROWN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Whitney's rep responded in a statement to PEOPLE: "Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he need to say such things but she choses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child even if it's to set the record straight."
In his upcoming autobiography, Brown blows the lid on his wildly dysfunctional marriage to the troubled, Grammy-winning diva, suggesting that she drove him into a nightmare of drug addiction.
"I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice," Brown writes in "Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But," out next month. "At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine."
As far as his 15-year marriage to Houston is concerned, it "was doomed from the very beginning. Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow," Brown writes. "I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married . . . I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children."
Whitney, he alleges, had been under "a lot of pressure. The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn't go too well with her image . . . In Whitney's situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world."
But Brown notes that he was no saint in their relationship, confessing in his book, "I am guilty of sleeping with other women . . . Women are always throwing themselves at you. I'm only human, so I would make the mistake and bite the hook sometimes . . . I let the testosterone take over."
One of his most public indiscretions was an affair with former exotic dancer Karrine "Superhead" Steffans. "Yes, I've slept with her," he confesses. "Yes, I've spent several nights at her house. But she was only good for what her nickname stood for."
Reps for Houston, who divorced Brown a year ago, did not return our call for comment.

She's Back: Whitney Houston Gearing Up For Big Comeback
The 'Greatest Love of All' singer will begin her comeback campaign with a performance at the Caudwell Children's Legend Ball at Battersea Evolution in London on May 8.
"We are thrilled to have an artist of Whitney's caliber to headline the event," the charity's founder, John Caudwell, told Marie Claire UK. "Last year was a huge success and with Whitney's support, we are fully expecting this year's event to be bigger and better than ever."
Last year, Tina Turner headlined the benefit and helped the organization raise more than $2.4 million. The group believes they will smash that record with Houston.
The May performance will be the 44-year-old music legend's first performance since she sang on December 1, 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In Malaysia the Newark, New Jersey-native performed big numbers like 'I Will Always Love You,' 'I'm Every Woman' and 'I Believe in You and Me.' Houston also duet with her daughter, Bobbi Kristina on the Wyclef Jean-produced hit, 'My Love is Your Love.'
A healthy-looking Houston appeared Feb. 9 at record mogul Clive Davis's Pre-Grammy dinner in Los Angeles.
The singer, who divorced singer Bobby Brown in Feb. 2007 after 14 years of marriage, is currently in the studio finalizing an album for Davis 's J Records, which is slated for a November release.
The album is rumored to feature production by the likes of Akon, R. Kelly and Ne-Yo, among others

Whitney Houston set for comeback with performance at charity do
The 'Bodyguard' star is planning to travel to London for the Caudwell Children's Legend Ball at Battersea Evolution on May 8.
Charity founder John Caudwell confirmed that Houston will be performing at the event, and hoped that it would raise more money than Tina Turner's performance last year which raised 1.2million pounds for disabled kids.
"We are thrilled to have an artist of Whitney's calibre to headline the event. Last year was a huge success and with Whitney's support, we are fully expecting this year's event to be bigger and better than ever," the Mirror quoted him, as saying.
And this will not be the only time fans get to hear her voice once again, for Houston is set to release a comeback album in November.
Sony BMG boss Clive Davis confirmed that the singer has already completed five songs, and that she has been working with big name producers.

Hope this finds you all, Keeping well and safe!
To one and all! I hope you are keeping well and healthy... I on the other hand have been in a constant battle, trying to figure out how to actually post, write, blog, so on and so forth, and hope I have finally figured it out.....
So Justo my friend, thank you for your patience whilst I tried to teach myself something that turned out to be quite simple!!!! I HOPE...
So the Nippy Fan Club seems to be buzzing with excitement and anticipation, an almost everyone has something to say about it!!! That includes me too. People close to me wishing something other than Whitney's name is spoken, or the distant angelic tones they hear are some one other than hers, although its nice to have a reprieve now by switching over to the amazing Leona Lewis who with out a doubt IS taking America by storm!! A tough thing to do for British Solo artists, but i tend to think her nerves were a little to close to the surface....
But Leona is another story and another club, and it is the focus on Whitney's comeback which is taking up so much of my concentration.. I have so much to say, so much I want to show and so many experiences I want to share with you all. But dont want to discover after many hours of work I still am not doing it correctly so my friends this is my practice run.
Wish me luck and hope you manage to get to see something that I think is quite a rare performance of a Whitney ballad, 'Miracle' back on her 1991 world tour "I'm Your Baby Tonight". Hope you enjoy watching it. Until we link up again. Take care and stay healthy!!!!

Whitney set for charity show

Whitney Houston is to perform live in London at a charity event to raise funds for disabled children.
The I Will Always Love You singer will treat guests to a string of her hits at Caudwell Children's Legend Ball at Battersea Evolution on May 8.
The 44-year-old American soul diva will sing before a 2,000-strong audience which will include British entrepreneurs and celebrities.
Caudwell Children is a national charity based in Staffordshire, providing direct donations of treatments, therapies and specialist equipment throughout the country, and has so far donated over £5 million to more then 2,000 children with 160 medical conditions.
Last year £1.2 million was raised for the charity from the Bedrock Ball at the National History Museum, where Tina Turner sang before an audience which included Sir David Frost.
John Caudwell, founder of the charity, said: "We are thrilled to have an artist of Whitney's calibre to headline the event. Last year was a huge success and with Whitney's support, we are fully expecting this year's event to be bigger and better than ever!
"Moving to a bigger venue for this year's ball means more people can come and support the charity, raising vital funds to make a difference to the lives of disabled children in the UK."

Music Beat: Publishing can be a money-maker
What is music publishing, and why is it so valuable?
Most of us think of publishing as something that happens when words and music are printed on paper, but in the music business, a song can be published without ever having appeared in a printed version.
A song is considered to have been published when it has been made available to the public for sale or other transfer of ownership.
In the pop music world, this can be accomplished in many ways, but the most common way is to include the song on a commercially released recording.
Who has the right to publish a song? The owner of the song has the right to publish it, and the first owner is usually the composer. The owner can decide who can make the first commercial recording of the song, as well as whether a song can be used in a commercial or movie or with a video game. Each new use of the song has the potential to earn money, of course.
People in the music business have known for a long time about the potential to make money through song publishing.
In 1992, singer Whitney Houston recorded a song called "I Will Always Love You" for the soundtrack to "The Bodyguard," a movie in which she shared star billing with actor Kevin Costner. Houston earned money as an artist from album sales, but country singer Dolly Parton must have been smiling whenever she heard the song on the radio or saw the album sales soar. Parton wrote "I Will Always Love You" in 1974 and she collects publishing income for every album sale and radio broadcast of the song, no matter who sings it.
Singer Michael Jackson's income as a singer/dancer has certainly dropped in recent years, but he was able to maintain his wealthy lifestyle in large part because he purchased the publishing rights to nearly 200 of The Beatles' songs for $47.5 million in 1985.
The publishing for those same songs is estimated to be worth more than $1 billion today, so Jackson made a smart move when he bought the rights to the songs nearly 25 years ago.
Forbes Magazine recently identified Madonna as the "cash queen of music," saying she was the richest female musician in the world. She earned $72 million from publishing, touring, merchandising and fashion.
How does music publishing earn so much money and to whom is publishing income paid?
The composer of a song is the first owner of the song (unless it's a work for hire). The composer owns all the rights to the song, and can license the song for commercial exploitation including use in movies, commercials and for performance and recording by other musicians.
But how can you convince movie-makers and others to use the song so it can earn money? Often, composers will give up ownership of their songs to publishers so the publishers can "exploit" the song by convincing other people to pay for the privilege of using the song commercially.
How much money can a song earn?
The music business is known as a "penny business," because most royalties are calculated in pennies. The royalty rate for putting one song on an album is 9.1 cents, but if 100,000 albums are sold, the publisher has earned $9,100.
And if the publisher has 10 songs on that album, the publisher has earned $91,000. If the song is played on the radio, more royalties are generated, and if the song is placed in a movie, commercial or other audio or visual use, even more royalties are earned. Some songs, like The Beatles' songs, continue to earn money for many years.
Songs are protected by copyright for the entire life of the composer, plus 70 years after the death of that composer. As long as a song is protected by copyright, the composer and publisher can earn money from that song. The next time you request a song to be played on the radio, you'll be earning money for the publisher of that song.
If you've ever thought about writing music, this might be a good time to get started. Publishing your music takes hard work, but it can certainly be worth the effort.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer met her "all-time musical hero" at producer Clive Davis' Annual Grammy Party in Los Angeles last weekend, but could barely speak when she was introduced to her idol.
She said: "It was amazing, I got to meet my all-time musical hero Whitney Houston - who looked so incredible. Clive introduced us. I don't think I managed to say much though, I was overwhelmed!
"I was told afterwards that when I performed she had said to a friend at the record label, 'My God, she's a baby me!' Wow - what a huge compliment!"
Leona sang her hit single 'Bleeding Love' and covered 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' in front of a star-studded audience, which included Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys and Usher.
The British star admits she found the whole experience "surreal".
She said: "It's been almost surreal and feels just so wonderful that I performed in front of so many people I admire - especially that Whitney even knows who I am and said that about me when I've been such a fan all these years!"
Clive - who chose Leona as his 'Special New Artist' guest, an honour previously bestowed upon Maroon 5 and Jennifer Hudson - said the 22-year-old star was the perfect choice to entertain his A-list guests.
He said: "Leona's range, her feel for music - it's clear she has the passion for music. A year ago, right here, we gathered the best writers and producers of the world. We had her sing in a living room of a suite and she floored them. It led to getting incredible material which has made up her album."

Había ido a verla a ella.
Whitney In Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party

Here's the AP's article on the event where diva Whitney Houston made a guest appearance (but disappointingly, did not sing). Did the AP seriously write, "Fantasia was sporting a new hairstyle, which could best be described as bangs in the front and sheered sides, including one section dyed silver?" Was the photo not sufficient, or did we need the hair play-by-play?
Houston, who is working on her comeback album, didn't get on stage Saturday night, but the event didn't lack for all-star performers - Alicia Keys, the Foo Fighters, Daughtry and Akon were among the Grammy-nominees who sang at the VIP event. Others there from music and Hollywood's A-list included Janet Jackson, Quincy Jones, new mom Nicole Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden and Richie's father, Lionel.
Carrie Underwood showed up with "Gossip Girl's" Chace Crawford, while Ashlee Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz walked in arm-in-arm. Other couples included comedians Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, and Usher and his wife, Tameka, who recently gave birth to the couple's first child, a son.
Rihanna and Chris Brown chatted together at a front tables, while Michael Strahan of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants joined tennis champion Serena Williams at another table (Strahan got a huge cheer from the crowd when he was singled out by Davis).
"American Idol" judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson mingled while last year's champ Jordin Sparks chatted with past finalist Chris Daughtry.
And Fantasia was sporting a new hairstyle, which could best be described as bangs in the front and sheared sides, including one section dyed silver. Asked to explain her new 'do,' the former "American Idol" winner, who recently wrapped up a run playing Celie in "The Color Purple" on Broadway, told The Associated Press: "It's something different, post-Celie."
Daughtry's two-song set included guitarist Slash and Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger. Lead singer Chris Daughtry said performing at the event, perhaps the music industry's most coveted invite, is an enviable position to be in.
"I was here last year, and I had to sit in the audience, and it sucks watching everyone else perform," he said.
The show also featured British newcomer Leona Lewis, Fantasia, and Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli, who got a standing ovation after performing "The Prayer."
"My teachers told me always, don't sing after dinner," Bocelli joked. "But this was a special occasion."
Akon joined friend and collaborator Wyclef Jean onstage to close out the party. Jean started off his performance with a rendition of a new song, "President," with a revised lyric: "Obama, Hillary Clinton, they got competition . . . vote for me for president."
Jean and Akon both traded hits before the last verse, coming out into the audience and dancing with the crowd.
But Jean didn't want to end it there: "I'm not gonna end until we flip," he sang to Akon, who shook his head and shrugged.
Moments later, Jean did a backflip, then Akon matched his effort with a backflip of his own, though not as steady. *
At last year’s Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy gala, Whitney Houston barely left her seat and didn’t even rise to meet Al Gore. She was tentative and fragile.
But last night at the Beverly Hilton, it was a fully restored, fun-loving Whitney who moved around the ballroom with grace. She spent a chunk of the evening away from her table with Davis’ family and hung out with Alicia Keys’ gang, including collaborator Kerry “Krucial” Brothers and manager Jeff Robinson down near the stage.
“Write some good things about me,” Whitney said, and we talked about her upcoming album. She’s healthy and focused and clearly engaged. She watched clips on the video screens of her past performances at Davis extravaganzas, I thought, with a little yearning. Maybe next year, she’ll be back up there.
They weren’t the only top 40 divas in the house, ya know. In the next row of tables, closer to the stage, Janet Jackson was installed with boyfriend producer Jermaine Dupri, while Rhianna dined just to their left. Earlier in the evening, Alicia admired Rhianna’s gown, while Fergie (and her giant) came over to say hello.
I had to laugh about this bodyguard thing, remembering when I met the latter beauty some years ago and she introduced herself as Stacy Ferguson, a girl with great abs!
Meanwhile, Alicia — who’s opening the Grammy show tonight with Tina Turner and Beyonce — was worried about how late Davis was putting her on stage last night. “I have to be in bed by 12,” she said. “I need my sleep!”
As it turned out, she was probably an hour off. But it was worth it. When Keys took the stage to sing a medley of songs from her number one album, “As I Am,” she was simply sensational. Her “No One,” which should have been a Best Song/Record nominee (it was pigeonholed in R&B) is the anthem of the year. The crowd went wild, with everyone on their feet, and Wyclef Jean joining in on guitar. The performance was so energetic that Usher and Houston each left their seats and drifted to the stage. Pink danced with record exec L.A. Reid. The members of Earth, Wind & Fire even had their own little disco area, in a section where the spectacular Gladys Knight hung out with Motown’s Ashford and Simpson, Berry Gordy and Philly International’s Gamble and Huff.
Over all of this, Davis — who’s in his late 70s, folks, and acts like he’s 40, dressed in a custom Armani tux and exuding good cheer — presided with humor, grace, and wit. One by one he introduced to the stage the Foo Fighters, Daughtry, Andrea Bocelli, Fantasia, and his hot British singer Leona Lewis. Later, Akon joined Wyclef for a wild and melodic hip-hop celebration which, luckily, didn’t include the scheduled Snoop Dogg, who didn’t show up.
In the audience, seated at tables strung along the three “rings” facing the stage: one table with Rod Stewart — who accepted his introduction from the stage by cheerfully rising with a napkin on his head, son Sean and Rod’s towering wife Penny, plus longtime manager Arnold Stiefel and famed producer Richard Perry. Missy Elliott commanded a spot down by the stage, along with Petra Nemcova, Usher and wife Tameka. Anthony Hamilton, will.i.am and the Peas, Randy Jackson with wife Erica and Paula Abdul, American Idol creator Simon Fuller, CBS chief Les Moonves and Julie Chen, Soul Train inventor Don Cornelius, plus best-seller Jackie Collins, all had their tables.
Just to the left of us, a red-haired Ashlee Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz ate with Ashlee’s dad Joe who assured us they are “just dating.” Someone spotted Eddie Murphy’s ex Nicole, possibly with Strahan, while David Spade remained quietly tucked into a corner just near a table with the contentious Jimmy Kimmel and his girlfriend Sara Silverman.
Jimmy, it turns out, is a reader of this column! He correctly recalled an item here from five years ago titled “No Valentine’s Day for Mrs. Jimmy Kimmel,” even though I was in the middle of complimenting Silverman on her funny current Matt Damon video on YouTube. Kimmel then turned cold and didn’t want her to talk to me. “You wrote that, didn’t you?” he said. You only think later of the great rejoinders you should have said! Being a late-night talk show host doesn’t give you a free pass in life, Jimmy.
But I digress. There are people I’m leaving out, like Nikki Haskell, Beverly Johnson, Slash, Vivi Nevo with Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang, Denise Rich, Ann Jones and son Mark Ronson, Marvin Davis’s widow Barbara, actors Victor Garber and Julie White (not together), beautiful Sanaa Lathan, and even Tommy Lee! Plus, there were sightings of Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, Busta Rhymes, Anthony Hamilton, Feist, John Paul Jones — who joined Daughtry on stage, Emily King and Natasha Bedingfield.
There were also plenty of record execs. Motown’s Sylvia Rhone was introduced and got a big ovation. Warner M. (the M is for malfunctioning) Group’s curious Lyor Cohen, who’s about six-foot-six if you’ve never met him, came in for photo ops wearing a bright red velvet sport jacket, got snapped with some stars, and promptly left. Maybe he was preparing for his company’s party tonight celebrating their phenomenal losses and lack of business. Or maybe he just wanted to see what the real record business is like.
Indeed, there was a lot of talk about the ailing industry. But you wouldn’t know there are problems, listening to Davis’s opening remarks. “Music is alive, vital, and healthy,” he declared and meant it. As one of the last people to have hits, maybe truly the last real Music Man in the industry, he can say that.
Davis is upbeat that CDs still have a place in the world, that the business is just going through a transition and that somehow it’s all going to work out. His passionate party is like the last stand against the tsunami of corporate greed that’s engulfing the landscape. Without it, Grammy weekend — with bland nominees and a lot of prefabricated music — would be a very enervating experience.
